Work with Award winning filmmaker and director Julia Huffman

Julia Huffman’s renowned career as a producer and multi award-winning filmmaker has garnered global recognition for her impactful work highlighting urgent social and environmental issues. With a focus on wildlife conservation and the intricate interplay between humans and nature, her documentaries have captivated audiences worldwide.

Her critically acclaimed directorial debut, “Medicine of the Wolf”, dives into the intricate world of wolves and their vital role in ecological harmony. The film earned accolades including the Grand Jury award at the Arizona International Film Festival, the Audience choice award and Best of Fest at Minneapolis International film festival and sold out (a record of four screenings) at Sedona International film festival. Medicine of the Wolf is distributed by Gravitas Ventures in the US and Tiberius Films internationally.

Huffman’s work has been endorsed by Dr. Jane Goodall, Pulitzer Prize-winning author Louise Erdrich, and music legends James Taylor, Bonnie Raitt, and Graham Nash. Her documentaries and advocacy efforts have also been showcased on networks including NBC, PBS, CBS, Huffington Post, National Geographic.com and her films have streamed on Hulu, Amazon Prime and Apple TV and more.

 Beyond filmmaking, Huffman’s advocacy extended to the TEDx stage in Fargo, N.D., where she emphasized the significance of apex predators. She has collaborated on projects with organizations like the Sierra Club, (the wolf reintroduction campaign) The Humane Society Of The United States and contributed to productions featured on E! HGTV, Steven Bochco Productions/FX, Academy Museum of Motion Pictures and West Virginia Public Broadcasting, a PBS affiliate.

Currently, Huffman is immersed in her latest project, “Mother, Daughter, Earth”, a deeply personal documentary exploring her mother’s pioneering journey as an early female computer programmer in the 1960s, and her dedication to wilderness and nature conservation advocacy. This heartfelt endeavor reflects Huffman’s ongoing commitment to preserving and celebrating the beauty of the natural world. In fall she was asked to be the Keynote speaker at her Alma Mater, Bethany College, where she reflected on the film and how she found her voice in documentary filmmaking.

Julia worked as a professional actor in the early 2000’s and went on to become the Co founder of For the Actor Studio where she has been teaching On-camera acting since 2011. Julia partnered & studied with veteran actor Peter Looney, who was a student of Sanford Meisner’s original Master class & the two co taught moment to moment acting for the camera together for many years. Julia took over For the Actor Studio in 2024.

Julia lives in Los Angeles with her husband, her cat Damian and dog Coral. She finds joy and inspiration digging in her garden, writing, mentoring women in recovery and advocating for wildlife & wild lands.
